Coded Trades Legal

Who We Are

Coded Trades is owned and operated by Mira Plumbing Ltd., a company incorporated in British Columbia, Canada. Coded Trades is the name Mira Plumbing Ltd. uses for its Red Seal exam preparation business.

In these Terms and Conditions, our Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy, “Coded Trades”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Mira Plumbing Ltd. “You” means anyone who buys or uses our courses.

Mira Plumbing Ltd. runs the Coded Trades websites, including codedtrades.ca, plumbingredseal.ca and codedtradesquiz.ca, sells the Coded Trades courses, and owns the Coded Trades name and logo. You can reach us using the details under Contact Us at the end of this page.

These Terms and Our Other Policies

These Terms and Conditions apply when you buy a Coded Trades course and for as long as you have access to it. By completing a purchase, you agree to them.

They work together with our other policies, which also form part of your agreement with us:

  • Terms of Use: the rules for using our websites and content
  • Privacy Policy: how we collect, use and protect your personal information
  • Refund Policy: our refund rules, which match the All Sales Are Final section below

If these Terms and Conditions conflict with our Terms of Use or Refund Policy, these Terms and Conditions win on anything to do with purchases, course access and refunds.

What You’re Buying

A Coded Trades course is an independent, self-paced online study course for the Interprovincial (Red Seal) Plumber exam. It includes lessons, practice questions, quizzes and other study materials. Our content is based on the 2020 and 2025 editions of the National Plumbing Code of Canada.

Our courses are self-serve study guides. They don’t include tutoring, coaching, exam booking, exam fees or a copy of any code book.

Intended Use

Our courses are meant to help you prepare for the Red Seal Plumber exam. Please use them with that purpose in mind:

  • Exam preparation only. Our content is study material. It isn’t plumbing, gas, engineering, design or code compliance advice for real work. Requirements depend on the code edition and changes adopted where the work is done, and on your local authority, so always check with them before you do any work.
  • Not an interpretation of the code. Coded Trades is a tool to help you study. Our lessons explain and summarize parts of the code in plain language, but they don’t replace, change or officially interpret it. If anything we say differs from the official code text, the official code wins, and only your local authority can decide how the code applies to real work.
  • Your results are your own. Buying a course doesn’t guarantee that you’ll pass the exam, get certified or reach any particular score. Exam eligibility, booking, content, marking and certification are decided by the authorities that run the exam, not by us.
  • The code itself. We don’t sell or copy the National Plumbing Code of Canada. You can get a free digital copy from the National Research Council of Canada.

Affordable Access

Coded Trades was founded to make Red Seal exam preparation affordable for everyone.

Some organizations, such as the Road to Red Seal, offer free one-on-one tutoring, and we encourage you to look into them. They’re independent organizations, not a part of Coded Trades.

If money is a barrier to buying this course, email us at [email protected]. We’ll keep your request private and do our best to help.

Your Licence

When you buy a course, you get a personal licence to use it for your own exam study during your access period. The licence is yours alone and can’t be transferred. This means:

  • Each purchase and account is for one person.
  • You can’t share, sell, copy or pass on the course or your login.
  • You can’t use the course to teach or train others.
  • Anything you’re able to download is for your own study only.

Commercial use is strictly prohibited. You can’t use the course, or any part of it, for any commercial purpose. That includes reselling or renting it, using it in paid classes, tutoring or staff training, or building it into another product or service. The only exception is where we’ve agreed to it in writing.

Our Terms of Use set out the full rules for using our content.

Access Period

Your purchase includes 6 months of access to the course, starting on the day you buy it. Six months gives most people plenty of time to study, sit the exam and review.

When your access period ends, your access stops automatically, unless it’s renewed under “Didn’t Pass? Your Access Renews Free” below or you buy the course again.

Didn’t Pass? Your Access Renews Free

If you sit the Red Seal Plumber exam during your access period and don’t pass, we’ll renew your access once, free of charge, for another 6 months.

To claim your renewal:

  1. Email us within 60 days of getting your exam result.
  2. Include your official result notice, or equivalent confirmation from your provincial or territorial apprenticeship authority, showing an unsuccessful attempt during your access period. You can cover up any personal details except your name, the exam, the date and the result.

The fine print:

  • You get one free renewal per purchase.
  • The renewal is for the same account and the same person.
  • It can’t be exchanged for a refund, credit or cash, or passed to anyone else.
  • We only use your result to process the renewal, then we delete it, as explained in our Privacy Policy.

Prices, Taxes and Payment

  • Prices are in Canadian dollars and are shown at checkout, along with any applicable taxes.
  • The price you pay is the price shown when you complete your purchase. We may change prices for future purchases at any time.
  • Payments are processed securely by our course platform, Thinkific, and its payment processors. We never see or store your full card number.
  • You’ll get a receipt by email after your purchase.

All Sales Are Final

Our courses are digital and you get access as soon as you pay, so all sales are final and we don’t give refunds, except in these cases:

  • Billing errors. If you’re charged twice or charged the wrong amount, we’ll fix it and refund the difference.
  • Permanent shutdown. If we permanently close a course while your paid access is still active, we’ll refund you for the unused part of your access period.
  • Where the law requires it. Nothing here removes any right you have under consumer protection law in your province or territory.

Our Refund Policy says the same thing. If the two ever differ, this page wins.

Payment Disputes

If you have a problem with a charge, please contact us first. Most issues can be sorted out quickly. If you open a chargeback or payment dispute, we may pause your access while it’s being resolved.

Account Sharing

Each course is for one person. If we find an account being shared, we may end access without a refund, as set out in our Terms of Use. We keep our prices affordable by selling each course to one person, which is why we take this seriously.

Course Updates

We regularly update and improve our courses, including when the codes or the exam change. Lessons, questions, structure and features may change during your access period. Updates are included at no extra cost.

Ownership and Trademarks

  • The Coded Trades name and logo are trademarks of Mira Plumbing Ltd.
  • Our courses, websites and study materials are protected by copyright. They are owned by Mira Plumbing Ltd. or used under licence.
  • Other names we mention, such as Red Seal, the National Plumbing Code of Canada and Thinkific, belong to their owners.

If you think something on our websites uses your work without permission, email us with the details and we’ll look into it.

Independence

Coded Trades is an independent study resource. We’re not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by the Red Seal Program, the Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA), the Government of Canada, SkilledTradesBC, the National Research Council of Canada, or any other government body, school, college or union. We use the Red Seal name only to describe the exam our course helps you prepare for.

Our practice questions are written by us to match the topics and style of the Red Seal exam. They are not real exam questions.

Liability

Our Terms of Use set out our disclaimers and the limits on what we’re responsible for, and they apply to your purchase too. In short, to the extent the law allows, the most we’ll owe you for any claim is what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Your Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions takes away rights you have under consumer protection law where you live. If any part of these terms isn’t allowed where you live, that part doesn’t apply to you, and the rest still does.

Changes to These Terms

The Terms and Conditions in effect when you complete your purchase apply to that purchase. We may update them for future purchases. The current version is always posted on this page, with the “Last updated” date at the bottom.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute goes to the courts of British Columbia. If consumer protection law lets you bring it where you live, you can do that instead.

If something goes wrong, please contact us first. Most problems can be fixed quickly.
